Winamac Park Board to Continue Discussing Splash Pad, Toddler Playground Tonight

Entrance to the Winamac Town Park

Ideas for improving the Winamac Town Park will continue to be discussed during tonight’s park board meeting. Last month, board members said they would like to see the equipment in the toddler playground replaced. The Winamac Kiwanis Club has offered to pay for the new equipment, if it’s awarded a matching grant from the Indiana District of Kiwanis.

Meanwhile, board members have also begun researching the possibility of adding a splash pad to the Town Park. Park board member and town manager Brad Zellers said last month that the Indiana Department of Natural Resources was fine with the idea, but he still had to check with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the State Department of Health. If it’s determined that a splash pad may be installed, board members would then ask for residents’ input, before proceeding.

Updates are expected when the Winamac Park Board meets tonight at 6:00 EST in the Winamac Municipal Utilities Complex. Board members are also scheduled to reorganize and appoint a board secretary and attorney for 2018.
