Missing Johnson County Man Found Safe in Plymouth

  
 
A person reported missing from Johnson County was found in Marshall County late Sunday night.

A Plymouth Police Department officer was called out to the area of North Michigan Street on a report that a man was in the road hitchhiking. When the officer arrived at the scene, he found a man wearing a camouflage coat and blue jeans in the middle of the road attempting to hitch a ride. An ID card revealed him as 58-year-old Lloyd Smith.

The officer ran Smith’s information in the database and found that he was reported missing from Johnson County. He spoke to Smith’s family and they were relieved to learn that Smith was okay. Smith’s brother and niece immediately made their way to the Plymouth Police Department to pick up Smith and take him back home.

Plymouth Police Investigating Alleged Battery Incident

 
 

Plymouth police are looking for suspects involved in an alleged battery incident in Centennial Park Wednesday morning.

The female victim told police that she was walking along Greenways Trail in the park and was approached by four Caucasian men in their 20s. They had walked up behind her and one suspect battered her. When she fell to the ground, the suspects then attempted to steal items from her pockets. They then left and the victim was able to escape and call police.

Plymouth Woman Arrested on Battery, Neglect Charges

An 18-year-old Plymouth woman was arrested early Thursday morning after an investigation into a battery incident.

Plymouth emergency personnel were called to a home in the 200 block of East Lake Street in Plymouth on a report that a one-month-old infant was having difficulty breathing. The infant was later transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Plymouth police conducted an investigation and found that the infant’s mother, Diana Turner, caused the baby’s serious injuries two hours prior to the medical call.

Plymouth Police Department Adds New Officers

 
 

The Plymouth Police Department’s ranks are growing, with the addition of three new academy-trained officers to the force. Jeremy Enyart previously worked for the Argos Police Department. Matt Emenhiser was an officer with the Marion P.D., and Ben McIntire received his training while he worked for the Bourbon Police Department. Plymouth Clerk-Treasurer Toni Hutchings administered their oaths of office Monday morning. All three were offered conditional employment in January by then-Chief Jim Cox, who noted the department received more than a dozen applications for the three openings. They have since completed the testing process and pension board approval. They will complete the department’s field training process by working with other officers before taking to the road on their own.

Marshall County Coroner, ISP Investigating Death of Inmate

police investigation 2Neither violence nor foul play are suspected in the Sunday morning death of an inmate at the Marshall County Correctional Facility in Plymouth. Authorities there say 44-year-old Kerry A. Pinder of Culver had been jailed since early Saturday morning following his arrest by Plymouth Police for operating while intoxicated. He was awaiting release at the time of his death just before 11 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled today. When an inmate in custody dies, the Indiana State Police and coroner are the lead investigators.

 

Plymouth Man Arrested after Scuffle with Police

A simple arrest warrant procedure turned into a complicated situation for officers from the Plymouth Police Department on Monday.

Plymouth Police Department Detective Sgt. Leo Mangus was in the process of serving an arrest warrant for Theft on 19-year-old Allen Biggers at his home in the 300 block of Kingston Road when Biggers became agitated and refused to comply with instructions given to him by the officers.

Pedestrians Treated and for Minor Injuries After Being Hit by a Truck

 
 

Two women who work in the Marshall County building were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries sustained yesterday as they were struck by a truck while walking to work. The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. at the corner of Jefferson and Center Streets in downtown Plymouth. Police there say Timothy J. Patterson, 42, of Plymouth, was blinded by the sun as he was turning left from Center Street onto Jefferson Street and did not see the women crossing the street. Catherine A. Hamman of Plymouth was treated at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a concussion, Angela L. Wilson of Plymouth received stitches to her face for some minor cuts. Hamman told the police officer she and Wilson were talking as they crossed the street with the light and did not see Patterson’s truck before it hit them.

Police Turn Bomb Threat Suspect Over to Proseuctor, Probation

police investigation 2A police report concerning the case involving a 15-year-old Plymouth High School student who reportedly admitted to writing a bomb threat on the boys bathroom wall in the high school on Jan. 23 is now in the hands of the Marshall County Prosecuting Attorney and the Marshall County Probation Department.

 Plymouth Police Chief Dave Bacon said they have been investigating the incident since it happened and had narrowed the suspect pool down to a few students and then this student confessed to the act.

 The student had reportedly written that a bomb would go off in the high school library at noon on January 24. Several police agencies searched the school and didn’t find any evidence of a bomb.

 The student allegedly told police that he never meant any harm to students or faculty.

 The Marshall County Probation officer and Prosecutor David Holmes will make a decision on what the juvenile’s charges will be and a decision has not been made yet.

Plymouth High School Student Admits to Writing Bomb Threat

  
 

A Plymouth High School student has reportedly admitted to writing a bomb threat that shut down the school for a few hours on January 24.

A 15-year-old male student came forward Monday and admitted to Plymouth police that he wrote the bomb threat on the boys restroom wall. The student allegedly expressed to police that he had no intentions of harming other students or faculty.

Plymouth Police Find Wanted Suspect, Meth Lab, Make Seven Arrests

 
 

A Plymouth Police Officer who hoped to serve one felony warrant at a Garro Street residence Wednesday night ended up taking seven people to jail and busting a meth lab.

Travis W. Gibson, 23, of Plymouth, was the subject of the warrant, which charges him with burglary, residential entry and dealing, delivering and manufacturing methamphetamine. A search of the residence turned up an illegal drug lab in the trunk of Gibson’s car, according to the Plymouth Police. Gibson now faces additional charges. Continue reading

Four Suspects Have Yet to Appear in Court on Meth Charges

 
 
Four people arrested on an alleged meth-related charges have yet to appear in Marshall Superior Court for their initial hearings.

Jordan Bunton, Kim Frazier, Adam Wagers, and Dianna Watson were arrested on Thursday, March 7 after officers from the Plymouth Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police executed a search warrant at 1008 Plum Street.

Plymouth Couple Jailed Following Meth Lab Discovery

A Plymouth couple is jailed without bond after a police officer reportedly found a meth lab in their vehicle during a traffic stop. Roy A. Atkins, 35, and his wife Trudi A. Atkins, 32, were arrested by Plymouth Police Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of a store at Oak Drive and Jefferson Street. The officer who stopped their vehicle noted a strong chemical smell, according to the arrest report. A search turned up an active meth lab and numerous other meth-related items in the back.
