Pulaski County Commissioners Approve Zoning Change

The Pulaski County Commissioners Monday unanimously approved a zoning change to turn recreational and residential land back into farmland.

The advisory plan commission recently approved the request to rezone the former driving range at Moss Creek Golf Course from RR-1 to A-1, which means it can be tilled under and planted. The commissioners also approved the rezoning of six nearby lots in the Moss Creek Acres Subdivision from residential to agricultural use.

Pulaski Zoning Ordinance May Soon Be Revised

  
 
The Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission has an ongoing discussion in the works regarding the county’s zoning ordinance and some obvious changes that need made in conjunction with previously established zoning ordinances in Winamac and Francesville. David Weber, secretary for the plan commission and board of zoning appeals, told WKVI that the commission has been discussing for the last several months how to revise or amend the county’s zoning ordinance, as it’s becoming apparent that changes need made to ensure the ordinances for the county, Winamac and Francesville work together with no issues.

Pulaski County BZA and Plan Commission to Meet This Evening

 
 

The Pulaski County Board of Zoning Appeals and Advisory Plan Commission are both scheduled to meet this evening at the county courthouse. The BZA meeting starts at 6 p.m. EDT. Agenda items include a training curriculum, and two people have asked to speak during the public comments portion of the agenda.

The advisory plan commission meeting starts at 7 p.m. EDT. The main item on that agenda is updating of the county’s zoning ordinance in conjunction with the towns of Winamac and Francesville. Both communities had zoning in place prior to the adoption of county-wide land use regulations.

Following the Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission’s conditional approval for a rezoning request to allow for a proposed confined hog feeding operation near 200 North and 400 West, the Pulaski County Commissioners handed down their decision in the matter last night. The Advisory Plan Commission approved the request pending approval from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and improvements at the intersection of 200 North and 400 West.

Medaryville Dollar General Store Plan Clears Hurdle

  
 
The town of Medaryville is a step closer to having a Dollar General store after a proposed zoning change to accommodate the 9,100 square foot facility received the blessing of the Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission. Town Council President Gene Payne says the proposal will now go to the county commissioners for final approval.

“It means everything to Medaryville and the surrounding community to get a business like that, or any kind of business. Everyone in the area is in support of it. We really need it,” said Payne.

The next Pulaski County Commissioners meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 3, but it’s unclear whether the matter will be discussed then.

Proposed Pulaski County Hog Farm Gets Conditional Green Light

 
 

The Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission granted conditional approval to a rezoning request for a proposed confined hog feeding operation pending approval from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Brothers Joshua and Jared Brown of North Judson, doing business as JoJa, LLC, want to raise between 20 and 25,000 pigs per year on 40 acres of land at 200 North and 400 West. The proposed farming operation will be situated behind a large sand hill in order to be somewhat less obtrusive. John Hoek is acting as a consultant on the project.

Two Public Hearings To Be Held Next Week In Pulaski County

Two public hearings are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 27 to address an application for rezoning and zone map change and for a variance in Pulaski County.

At 6 p.m. ET, the Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission will hear a rezoning and zone map change for the property at 4877 W. 200 S. in Winamac.

At 7 p.m. ET. the Board of Zoning Appeals will hold its first public hearing since its creation. The hearing will cover a proposed variance for a 40’x60’ pole barn to be built at 7567 W. 950 S. in Winamac to house bag ingredients and cover more than ten percent of the parcel. The meetings will be held in the Commissioners’ Room in the Pulaski County Courthouse.

Both applications are available for review in the Building/Planning Department located in the government building on Riverside Drive in Winamac.
