Indiana Governor Mike Pence will be participating in a meet and greet today from Noon to 1 p.m. ET at 124 N. Market Street in Winamac.

This is an opportunity for residents and business owners to get together with the governor to discuss topics such as small business, health insurance and other items of interest.

This event is sponsored by the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.

Time to Enter the Holiday Lights Contest in Pulaski County

  
 
The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is inviting you to take part in the 2013 holiday lights contest.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to pick up a registration form at the Chamber of Commerce, fill it out and pay $10 cash to enter into the contest. On Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, judges will be traveling around Pulaski County to see which house and which business has the most festive decorations for the season. Make sure all lighted displays are on from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET both days.

Winter Wonderland Coming to Pulaski County Dec. 7

 
 

The Winter Wonderland event, sponsored by the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, is set for Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET in downtown Winamac.

But first, join the chamber in ushering in the holiday season in the lighting of the Christmas Tree on the Pulaski County Courthouse lawn on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. ET followed by tours of three beautiful homes in Pulaski County. Tickets for the home tour can be purchased at the Pulaski County Chamber office, at Refined or from Winter Wonderland committee members. Tours will be given at Melody Braun’s home as well as at Bailey Hoover’s home and Patrick Shuttrow’s home.

Winamac Town-Wide Yard Sale Set for July 20

 
 
The Winamac town-wide yard sale is scheduled for Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.

Yard sale maps will be available at the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce office and other businesses in town from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Donuts and beverages will be offered at the chamber office at the same time.

If you would like to register your yard sale and get on the map for $10, call (574) 270-0016 or (574) 946-6123. You may call those same numbers if you are from outside city limits and would like to reserve a spot at an in-town location to sell your wares.

Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce, Refined Team Up for Spring Expo

  
 
The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce and Refined are teaming up to host a Spring Expo in an effort to promote local business. The expo is planned for May 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Refined in Winamac at 102 N. Monticello St. There is no fee to set up a booth.

Angie Anspach said this is the first time the Chamber has held such an event, but they’re hoping to make it an annual expo to promote local businesses every year.

Indiana Congresswoman to Visit Pulaski County

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski will be visiting Pulaski County this month.

The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Indiana 2nd District Representative’s visit at the Fox’s Den in Winamac on Monday, April 29 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET.

Congresswoman Walorski will be discussing needs in Pulaski County and is seeking your input on issues to take back to Washington, D.C.

Germanfest Plans Still Being Discussed

  
 
Plans for the Pulaski County Chamber’s Germanfest are coming right along.

The Aug. 10 festival will be in downtown Winamac with an authentic German band providing entertainment. Also authentic German food will be catered by Ortman Meat Processing of Winamac.

Pulaski County Chamber Announces German Fest Plans

  
 
Plans are in the works for a German Fest in downtown Winamac. The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Aug. 10 event. Organizers say a band is already booked and traditional German food will be served. A family area will be designated, and a beer garden will also be available. Several other events are being discussed as part of the festivities. Organizations, clubs and businesses who want to be a part of the fun are urged to contact Donny Link at donj@linkeq.com.

Winamac Man Soon to Be Proud Recipient of H.J. Halleck Award

  
 

A Winamac man will soon be the honored recipient of the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce’s H.J. Halleck Community Service Award. The award is presented in honor of an individual’s selfless donation of time, energy, and hard work in an effort to make their community a better place for everyone to live, and this year, David W. Barr will be presented with the award on March 8 at 6 p.m. at the event center in Winamac.

Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Announces Halleck Award Winner

  A longtime Winamac businessman who is well-known for his generosity has been announced as the recipient of the 2013 Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce H.J. Halleck Award. Former chamber of commerce president David W. Barr owned and operated Winamac Cleaners and Laundry for many years. The business was Winamac’s first laundromat. While at the Chamber, Barr oversaw the groundbreaking for Control Company’s local plant, worked to recruit additional businesses and helped with Santa’s annual arrival and the sidewalk day sales for Winamac businesses. Barr also reactivated the city hostess program and helped to pay off the note on the swimming pool.
