Open Seats in Pulaski County for 2018 Elections

Wednesday marks the first day a declaration of candidacy may be filed and several Pulaski County positions will be up for election this year.

Seats are open for Circuit Court and Superior Court Judges who each serve 6-year terms. Elections will also be held for the 4-year terms of Prosecuting Attorney, Clerk of Courts, the Sheriff, Assessor, Surveyor, Coroner and Commissioner for District #3. Pulaski County Election Board Scheduled to Investigate Potential Absentee Voting Site

The Pulaski County Election Board is holding a work session this Wednesday to investigate the suitability of a site for potential in-person absentee voting.

At 11 a.m. ET the board will meet in the Pulaski County Clerk’s office at 112 East Main Street in Winamac. The group will move to the Justice Center for the investigation and then return to the Clerk’s office for investigation. If you have any questions, contact the County Clerk’s Office at 574-946-4953.

Town Office Candidate Filing Remains Open for Municipal Election

 
 

Candidates for town offices are still eligible to sign up for offices up for election in this municipal cycle.

The latest candidate to file in the Stake County Clerk’s Office is Democrat Dean Goble, who is running for a seat on the Hamlet Town Council. Since the last report in Pulaski County, Democrat Emily L. Bailey and James Fleury filed for a Monterey Town Council positions while Republican Ronald “Rudy” Desabitine is seeking a Ward 2 seat on the Winamac Town Council.

The deadline to file for a town office is Aug. 3. If a race develops in a party, a town convention will be held to determine a party candidate to be on the November ballot in the General Election.

Voter registration ends April 6, and absentee voting opens the next day. For information on those items, call you local voter registration clerk.

The City of Knox Primary Election is Tuesday, May 5.

Municipal Election Filings Continue

 
 

This is the last week for candidates seeking a city council office to file for the primary election. Candidates seeking office in a town populated with less than 3,500 residents have until Aug. 3 to file in this year’s Municipal Election.

Democrat Frank Lonigro, Jr. is seeking another term on the Hamlet Town Council while Democrat Judy Harwood will be running for another term for Medaryville Town Clerk-Treasurer.

Voter Registration Open Now, Ends Oct. 6

 
 

Voter registration is open now until Monday, Oct. 6 at the end of the business day at the county courthouses.

If you need to register to vote or have questions about your current registration, call the Starke County clerk’s office at (574) 772-9160 or the Pulaski County clerk’s office at (574) 946-3313.

Absentee voting in Starke County and in Pulaski County begins Oct. 7.

Today is the Final Day to Vote Absentee

  
 

Today is the last day to vote absentee in the May Primary Election.

As of Friday morning, the Starke County Clerk’s office reported a count of 643 absentee ballots and the Pulaski County Clerk’s had a count of 306. The number jumped quickly in Pulaski County during the past week.

You may vote in the Starke County Courthouse or in the Pulaski County Courthouse from 8 a.m. to Noon local time today. The absentee voting period for tomorrow’s election will close today at Noon.

More Candidates File in Pulaski County Clerk’s Office

Several candidates filed for the 2012 Election in the Pulaski County Clerk’s Office last week.

On the Republican ticket, Michael Troy “Big Mike” Tiede filed for County Commissioner in District 2 and Steven Nellans and Jerry “Jay” Sullivan, Jr. filed for at-large seats on the County Council.

Democrat Sheila K. Garling filed for Pulaski County Auditor.

More Candidates File for Office

The Starke County Clerk’s Office received three candidate filings in the first week. Kasey Clark has filed for Starke County Treasurer and Robert (Bob) Sims filed for Starke County Council at Large seat on the Democratic ticket. Clark is currently in the office filling the term of Linda Belork who was removed from the office in August of 2011. Democrat Dennis Estok filed last week for the office of Starke County Surveyor.

Candidates Begin to File for 2011 Municipal Election

The Starke County Clerk’s Office helped sign up candidates Wednesday for the 2011 Municipal Election. Jeff Houston filed for Knox City Clerk-Treasurer and Rick Chambers has filed for Mayor of Knox. Jeff Berg and Greg Matt filed for seats on the Knox City Council. Debra Sue Goble filed for Hamlet Clerk-Treasurer, Connie Miller filed for North Judson Town Clerk-Treasurer and Dan Anderson filed for a seat on the North Judson Town Board.

In Pulaski County, Christina Hoffa has filed for Winamac Town Clerk-Treasurer.

The deadline to file is Friday, February 18th.
