Pulaski County Commissioners Stick with Town & Country Paving for Community Crossings Projects

The Pulaski County Commissioners have decided to stick with Town & Country Paving for several miles of road projects. They accepted the company’s bid for just under $1.18 million Monday, at the recommendation of Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff. “We had Town & Country last year,” Ruff said. “They done 200 South and that stretch out here by Lawton. They’re all right, so if they’ve got the low bid, why wouldn’t you go with them? It was close between them and Central Paving, but that’s why you bid it off, I guess.”

Pulaski County Election Board, Commissioners to Consider Resolution Tonight

Since Pulaski County won’t have to hold a primary election this year, a resolution saying how much money the county will save will be up for approval tonight. The county election board is expected to consider the resolution when it meets tonight at 5:30 EDT. The resolution would then go to the county commissioners at their 6:00 p.m. meeting. Both meetings will be held in the Pulaski County Courthouse.

Pulaski County Board of Finance Votes to Keep Cash Management at First National Bank of Monterey

Pulaski County is sticking with First National Bank of Monterey for its cash management. The county’s board of finance officially approved the bank’s bid Monday, at the recommendation of Treasurer Teresa Bryant. “As usual with First National, they never charge us any fees for anything and give us the best interest rate,” she explained. “1st Source really stepped up their game, as far as offering more services as far as security, but unfortunately, they’d still charge us fees.”

Pulaski Health Foundation, County Reach Compromise over Riverwood Commons Property Taxes

A dispute over whether the nonprofit Pulaski Health Foundation has to pay property taxes on its Riverwood Commons apartment building appears to have been resolved. Sharon McKinley, the foundation’s executive director, told the Pulaski County Commissioners Monday that the housing development is designed for residents over the age of 55 with low-to-moderate incomes.

Pulaski Commissioners to Choose Bank, Discuss Funding Match for Human Services Van

The Pulaski County Commissioners will consider bids for a number of different items this morning. They’re expected to choose a bank to handle the county’s cash management services. The county received bids from four local banks last month.

Maintenance Director Mia Salyers will discuss contracts for lawn care and snow removal at various county properties, along with bids for the removal of an ash tree near the Annex Building. Fuel bids will also be discussed, and the commissioners are expected to finalize a contract with Golden Tech for a new email system.

Additionally, the possibility of the county once again helping with the cost of a new van for Pulaski County Human Services will be discussed by the organization’s executive director, Jacki Frain. Meanwhile, a $25,000 expense with a Chicago media outlet will be presented for the commissioners’ approval by Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer. The CDC has tried a few different advertising packages in recent years, in an effort to attract tourists to Pulaski County.

Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff, Sheriff Jeff Richwine, and Assessor Holly VanDerAa are also scheduled to make appearances at this morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting. It starts at 8:30 a.m. EDT at the Pulaski County Courthouse.

Pulaski County Attorney Wants to Review Contract before Commissioners Approve Email Switch

A proposed switch in Pulaski County’s email system still needs more review before the county commissioners will approve it. Since January, IT Director Matt Voltz has been recommending using Golden Tech, to switch county employees over to the Office 365 email system. Voltz says it will make it easier for various departments to coordinate their schedules, which would be especially helpful for the county’s judicial system.
