The Pulaski County Public Library has upgraded its equipment to enable audiovisual presentations to be held in the library’s Activity Room. The new system includes a projector, screen, and speakers. Pulaski County Public Library Celebrates National Library Week
The Pulaski County Public Library is celebrating National Library Week with a program on Thursday.
Library officials are hosting a maker session of Springtime Green Cleaners and Cocktails for adults at 5:30 p.m. ET at the library in Winamac. Participants can learn how to freshen homes with nature’s best ingredients. Along with the cleaning aspect, adults will also learn how to prepare herb-infused drinks.
National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association. It is a time to highlight the role of libraries in communities including the work put forth by librarians and workers. The recognition continues through Saturday, April 18.

Pulaski Memorial Hospital Accepts Book Donation
The Pulaski County Public Library recently donated books, so every child entering the world will get an early start on reading.
Copies of the book Little Blue Truck were presented to the staff at Pulaski Memorial Hospital. About 100 copies of the book were donated to the hospital. A book will be given as gifts to the families of newborn babies.
In addition to the book, parents will be provided with a brochure about early literacy and reading to children. The document includes information on how and when to read to babies, a timetable of what reaction changes to expect when reading books, and more books babies will enjoy.
Workshop Planned for Entrepreneurs
Ron Gifford from the Starke County Economic Development Foundation will be presenting a workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET at the Pulaski County Public Library in Winamac.
Gifford serves as the Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center Business Advisor for Starke County and Pulaski County. This workshop aims to help entrepreneurs evaluate their business ideas, prepare a sound business plan, manage expectations and increase chances of accessing capital.
Money Saving Program to be Featured at Pulaski County Public Library
Next week is Money Smart Week and the staff at the Pulaski County Public Library in Winamac is hosting a program to help you get a hold of your finances.
Lisa Thompson from Fort Wayne will be presenting a program entitled “How to Save Money and Pay off Debt” on Thursday, April 10 at 5 p.m. ET at the library. She and her husband went through David Ramsey’s Financial Peace University Membership kit and found their $80,000 debt disappear.
This program will help veterans dealing with debt, failed businesses, or individuals who have been dealing with money problems. It not only discusses how to get out of debt but also touches topics on money saving and control.
Pulaski County Public Library Celebrates Banned Books Week
The Pulaski County Public Library is celebrating banned books this week. Banned Books Week, according to the library’s website, is a celebration of more than 30 years of the freedom to read, a freedom firmly rooted in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that guarantees not only freedom of speech but freedom of the press as well.
Pulaski County Public Library to Host Indiana Heart Gallery
The gallery features portraits of children in need of adoptive families. The Heart Gallery is used by the Indiana Department of Child Services to help raise awareness about children in foster care in need of a forever home. More than 1000 children in Indiana are in need of a home.
The Indiana Heart Gallery will display a dozen portraits daily from Aug. 5 to Aug. 26 at the Pulaski County Public Library in Winamac. The exhibit may be viewed Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET.
“Dig In” to the Summer Reading Program at Pulaski County Public Library
This summer’s theme is “Dig Into Reading,” for kids up to 12 years old, while the theme for teens ages 13-18 is “Beneath the Surface.” Participants receive points for checking out and reading books rom the library, and prizes will be awarded as points are earned while the top readers in the age groups will receive a copy of their favorite book in library binding.
