The newest addition to the Indiana State Police Lowell post has four legs and a tail. Master Trooper Steve Caylor and his K-9 partner, Nikan, are graduates of the 2015 ISP K-9 Class. Caylor has been with the department for almost 20 years. Nikan is an 18 month old Malinherd, which is a cross between a Belgian Malinois and a German Shepherd. Continue reading

A convicted murderer and child molester is back in jail after his arrest yesterday at a public library in Indianapolis. Richard Dobeski, 67, was picked up on a LaPorte County warrant for four counts of failure to register as a sex offender. All are Level 6 felonies, which carry a penalty of between 6 months and 2.5 years in prison. A failure to register charge will also be filed in Marion County, according to officials with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department. Dobeski was released last week from the Indiana Department of Correction New Carlisle facility. Continue reading
Pulaski County will be considering its fiscal year budget in August, but the Pulaski County Health Department must first reduce its expenses by a significant margin.
The Health Department has seen a reduction in revenue due a reduction in the number of immunizations provided. Tax draws have also been reduced, impacting several departments in Pulaski County.

This summer’s above average amount of rainfall has been ideal for mosquito breeding. According to state health officials, West Nile Virus has been confirmed in almost 10 Indiana counties. A man recently released from prison, and convicted of murder and child molesting, has a history in the Pulaski County Court system.
67-year-old Richard Dobeski was let out of an Indiana Department of Corrections Facility in New Castle this month. He was convicted on two counts of murder dating back to 1965.
The Pleasant View Rest Home will soon be placed in a historical magazine for sale.
During Monday night’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting, it was learned that the County Home was recently appraised to help make decisions when listing the property for sale.

The Pulaski County Commissioners may soon investigate the possibility of changing the location of the Pulaski County Fair.
This year’s fair carried on, but changed the location of several events due to heavy rainfall and flooding in the Winamac area. The Pulaski County Fair and 4-H grounds are located near the Winamac Town Park next to the Tippecanoe River.

The rubble at the site of the former Sportsman’s Bar and Grill remains according to officials with Pulaski County.
The building, owned by Courtney Hardin, collapsed earlier this year, prompting health and safety concerns in Monterey. The building is owned by an individual in Culver, but according to Pulaski County Commissioners, few are taking responsibility to clean-up the site. Continue reading

After an exceptionally stormy summer so far, Indiana will receive a blast of hot summer air this weekend. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures will reach at least 90 degrees across most of the state. Combined with high humidity, the heat index in some areas will reach more than 100 degrees. Prolonged exposure to these conditions can lead to heat illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Pulaski County’s largest and most expensive home could soon have a new owner. The Braun Mansion will be sold at auction in New York on Aug. 6th. It was built in 1998 for Braun Corporation founder Ralph Braun, who died in February of 2013.
