A system allowing government officials to collect unpaid debt by intercepting state income tax refunds will be discussed during tonight’s Oregon-Davis School Board meeting. A memorandum of understanding for the Tax Refund Exchange and Compliance System will be presented for the board’s approval. A similar agreement was approved by the Eastern Pulaski School Board earlier this month.

Winamac may be getting a new adult softball league, but the idea has led to larger questions about insurance requirements. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo told the park board last week that he’s heard from someone who’s interested in using the large softball diamond for an over-18, coed league. DeLorenzo was told that almost 60 people have expressed interest.
South Bend Cubs Award Scholarships to Local Athletes
Two recent high-school graduates are each heading off to college with $5,000 thanks to a scholarship opportunity provided by the South Bend Cubs. The local recipients of the scholarship are Mattie Reese, a softball player from John Glenn High School and Andrew Samuelson, a baseball player from LaPorte High School.
West Central vs. Winamac
The Winamac Lady Warriors emerged victorious over MWC rival West Central on Friday 15-6. The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the 3rd inning before the Warriors got their bats going en route to a big conference win. Rachael Tetzloff jump started Winamac by hitting a 2-run homer in the bottom of the third inning to cut the Trojans lead to three. Bethany Brogdon got the win for Winamac.
South Central at LaCrosse
On a beautiful spring day in May, LaCrosse hosted South Central in a PCC softball matchup. The Lady Satellites emerged victorious over the Lady Tigers 14-0. Jessica Sturdy came away with the win for SC, giving up just one run in the complete game victory. The Satellites proved to be too much along the base path, stealing multiple bases throughout the game. The Tigers, meanwhile, showed that they are growing as they were able to hold their own late in the game. It was a battle of experience versus inexperience, and as it usually does, the experience prevailed.
