Sentence Modifications Heard in Starke Circuit Court
A sentence modification was approved in the case of Douglas Beem.
He requested the judge to move from Community Transition Program (CTP) to probation and/or to home detention. The state objected to a move to probation but accepted a move to daily reporting home detention with Starke County Community Corrections. The request was granted by Judge Kim Hall.
Trial Scheduled in the Case of Robert Corbin
Robert Corbin’s case will go to trial.
Corbin appeared with his attorneys Friday morning for a status hearing in his case in Starke Circuit Court. Indiana Supreme Court justices unanimously reversed an Indiana Court of Appeals’ decision recently to dismiss the case where two felony counts of attempted child seduction were filed against Corbin.
Winamac Man Arrested on Rape, Domestic Battery Charges
A Winamac man was arrested on Monday and charged with Rape and Domestic Battery.
It is alleged that Christopher Stonebraker raped his ex-wife and pushed her head into a wall causing her tooth to chip. The Probable Cause Affidavit also states that he reportedly scratched her back in the presence of two children. Stonebraker was arrested by an officer from the Indiana State Police and taken to the Starke County Jail on a Class B Felony Rape charge and a Class D Felony Domestic Battery charge.
Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall Rejects Plea Agreements in Hearings held Yesterday
Several plea agreements were rejected by the Starke Circuit Court as Judge Kim Hall turned down submitted agreements from Richard Wilbert, Allen Krock, and Richard Longacre.
A plea agreement was submitted for Krock, charged with Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury as a Class C Felony. The agreement would have sentenced Krock to four years in the Department of Corrections with one year suspended. One year of probation would follow his release, and he would be required to complete alcohol and substance abuse programs.
