The Starke County Fair will get some extra help returning from last year’s cancellation. The 4-H and Starke County Fair Board was the recipient of last month’s $1,000 pop-up grant from the Starke County Community Foundation.

Food Bank of Northern Indiana to Hold Drive-Through Distribution in Hamlet Thursday

The Food Bank of Northern Indiana will be visiting Hamlet tomorrow, April 29. The Starke County Community Foundation’s Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund is sponsoring a drive-through food distribution. It’ll take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon CDT at the James R. Hardesty Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Station and Community Center.

Oregon-Davis School Board Accepts Student Debt Relief Grant, Athletic Donations

Oregon-Davis students continue to benefit from the generosity of local residents, businesses, and organizations. The school board Monday accepted $25,000 in grant funding from the Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund. The grant came about after the school board took action last month to intercept state income tax refunds to collect unpaid fees, and the Hardesty Fund offered to pay off the entire debt instead.

Oregon-Davis School Board to Accept Student Debt Relief Donation Tonight

A $25,000 donation to wipe out student debt will be up for the Oregon-Davis School Board’s official approval tonight. Board members approved an agreement last month that would let school officials collect outstanding fees by intercepting state income tax refunds, but the Starke County Community Foundation’s Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund has since agreed to pay them off entirely.

Those owing money to the Oregon-Davis School Corporation have had their debt wiped away. The Starke County Community Foundation’s Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund has agreed to pay off $25,000 in outstanding debt, through a grant awarded to the school corporation last week.

North Judson Food Pantry Gets $1,000 Pop-Up Grant from Starke County Community Foundation

The North Judson United Methodist Church Food Pantry is the recipient of this month’s pop-up grant from the Starke County Community Foundation. Each month this year, the community foundation is giving $1,000 to a different nonprofit group, in celebration of the foundation’s 25th anniversary.

Community Services of Starke County Gets Surprise Grant from Starke County Community Foundation

An organization supporting some of Starke County’s most vulnerable residents got a $1,000 boost Tuesday. Community Services of Starke County was awarded a “pop-up grant” from the Starke County Community Foundation. Foundation representatives surprised Community Services Executive Director Charmaine Dunkel with balloons and a giant check.

North Judson-San Pierre High School Senior Named Starke County’s 2021 Lilly Community Scholar

Starke County’s 2021 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar has been announced. North Judson-San Pierre High School Senior Adalynn Harper is getting the four-year, full-tuition scholarship to an Indiana college or university of her choice, according to the Starke County Community Foundation.

Starke County Veterans Memorial Maintenance Fund Now Accepting Donations

Now that the new Starke County Veterans Memorial Plaza has been dedicated, efforts are underway to make sure that both memorials on the courthouse square continue to honor fallen service members for generations to come. The Starke County Park Board last week established the Starke County Veterans Memorial Maintenance Fund at the Starke County Community Foundation.
