Starke County Commissioners Defer Forest Discussion
Starke County Park Board members are encouraged to attend the next county drainage board meeting to discuss their concerns about the marsh in the Starke County Forest. Board member Debbie Mix told the commissioners park board members are looking at other sources of grant funds to cover the cost of constructing a bypass ditch along the south end of the property to alleviate drainage issues. Starke County Commissioners Praise Late Bill Schacht
Calling him a “great public servant,” the Starke County Commissioners praised the service given to the county by the late Bill Schacht this week. Schacht served for many years as a member of the county’s Drainage Board.
Commissioner Dan Bridegroom said, “He taught me more about drainage than anyone could have, and I appreciate everything he told me. He will be greatly missed.”
Starke County Commissioners Approve Drainage Board Accounts Schedule
The Starke County Commissioners signed documents that showed the schedule for the Starke County Drainage Board accounts to be collected in 2012.
In explaining the documents, Commissioner Dan Bridegroom pointed out that Starke County has more drainage boards than any county in the state.
