Just in Time for Snow Forecast, Indiana Recognizes Winter Weather Preparedness

 Snow is in the forecast for Saturday, and the Indiana Department of Transportation is readying for the change in weather.

The snowfall is being predicted during what Governor Mike Pence declared Winter Weather Preparedness Week. The recognition started on Sunday and lasts through Saturday.

Swansons Receive SCCF Philanthropy Award

N.J.-S.P. School Board Plans Budget Sessions in Face of Funding Woes

Tuesday night’s school board meeting brought with it a packed house and a few observers wondering what the school corporation’s plans are following the defeat of a referendum designed to temporarily increase the property tax levy.

Council Questions Proposed Jail Addition

Starke County Justice CenterNearly six months after the first inmates moved into the new Starke County Jail east of Knox the architect and builder are recommending a $525,000 addition to the facility. Architect and project manager Scott Carnegie with DLZ told the council and commissioners an automatic auger would catch small items like cellophane and plastic wrappers inmates flush down the toilets and keep them out of the city’s sanitary sewer system.
