The Pulaski County Commissioners have approved the purchase of a $124,000 dump truck for the County Highway Department. This week, the commissioners voted to accept the low bid submitted by Pozzo Truck Center. It was for a 2019 Mack truck.

Pulaski County now has three contractors interested in doing several miles of paving work, as part of the state’s Community Crossings program. The county commissioners had approved a contract with Central Paving of Logansport for nearly $1.2 million, but they later repealed that decision to allow the project to be bid out formally.

The Pulaski County Highway Department can proceed with ordering a new truck. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff told the county council Monday funds for a new Mack truck are in the 2017 budget, but he would like to get it ordered now. He says doing so will save the county money, as the price will likely go up by 2 to 3 percent in January. Continue reading
