Saturday night’s Battle of the Bullring, featuring NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart, was actually a battle with Mother Nature – and Mother Nature won.

Rain canceled the Sprints on Dirt race on the dirt track at the Plymouth Speedway. The much-anticipated race has been rescheduled for August 18, but Irish Saunders of the Plymouth Speedway said it was an interesting day, not only because of the rain situation at the Plymouth Speedway, but for Tony Stewart as well. Tony Stewart Visits Lakeville to Promote Little Hoosier 100 Midwest Thunder Series

Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart was in Lakeville last night to help promote Newton Park and the Little Hoosier 100 Midwest Thunder Series, an event that will be held August 11 and 12 that features kids ages 5 to 16 racing quarter midget cars. Stewart talks about the race.

“Oh it’s cool,” said Stewart. “I never got to run quarter midgets growing up because I ran go-karts, but for Bob and Joyce to put on an event like that and let these kids run an event with the quarter midgets is a lot of fun. You never know which kid that’s going to race here is going to be the next up-and-coming Jeff Gordon or Helio Castroneves. There’s a lot of good kids that will be up here racing from all over the country.”

Tony Stewart Visits with Fans in Lakeville

NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart, was in Lakeville yesterday to speak to fans and sign autographs at the Newton Center. The event was sponsored by Hoosier Racing Tire and Stewart appreciates that the Newton family has always stood by him throughout his career. Tony talked about what it’s like to be both an owner and a driver:

“It’s just a lot of time, I mean it’s a ton of time, a ton of pressure, especially trying to do both roles as a driver and an owner,” said Stewart. “It makes you appreciate guys like Jack Rausch, Rick Hendrick, Joe Gibbs, Richard Childress, and Michael Waltrip and all these guys who have multi-car teams. It’s definitely not an easy business by any means.”
