A proposal to charge Winamac residents five dollars a month for trash pickup will continue to be discussed by the town council this afternoon. Members have noted that Winamac is one of the few towns left that doesn’t charge for the service.

Changes are coming to Hamlet’s trash pickup. Starting in March, pickup will move from Tuesday mornings to Thursday mornings, according to Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts. The monthly cost will also increase from $11.39 to $12.92 per household, and then up to $13.44 in March of 2021.

Knox City Council members considered extending the City’s garbage services contract with Waste Management when they met on Tuesday.
Public Sector Solutions Representative Melinda Antell came before the council to go over the proposed contract extension. She noted that initially she presented a five-year contract to Mayor Dennis Estok but he requested the shorter, three-year contract extension. Continue reading
