Winamac Police are cracking down on golf cart violations and unruly kids in the Town Park. Town Marshal Tyler Campbell says increased patrols have led to more juveniles ejected from the park for fighting and swearing.

Winamac has a new town marshal. Officer Tyler Campbell was promoted to the position by the town council Monday. Former Town Marshal Mike Buchanan had been leading the department on an interim basis since Mark Hoffman stepped down last June.

A tight race for circuit court judge was one of the big attractions in Pulaski County’s Primary Election Tuesday. Mary Welker narrowly beat Tim Murray for the Republican Party nomination, with 50.6 percent of the vote over Murray’s 49.4 percent. That was a margin of just 22 votes.
Races Set for May Primary
The races are set for May’s primary elections. In Starke County, one hotly-contested office is county clerk. Current auditor Kay Chaffins is challenging incumbent Vicki Cooley for the Democratic party nomination. The winner would presumably face Republican Bernadette Welter-Manuel in November’s general election.
Candidate Filings Continue
The number of contested races is starting to add up, heading into the May primary. Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin has filed to run for reelection this year. At this point, the incumbent Democrat faces a challenge from Republican Thomas Decola.
