Just because there is a transition to spring taking place doesn’t mean NIPSCO has stopped providing utility assistance to some of its customers.
Between December 1st and March 15th, natural gas utilities in Indiana don’t disconnect services to low income home energy assistance customers just because they may be delinquent on their home heating bills.
The Knox City Council has jumped the first hurdle for amending a pair of ordinances that will increase usage rates for utility consumers.
NIPSCO has developed a new way to report a power outage.
The utility service provider says that electric customers are now able to text the word “Out” to 444111. That will notify the company of a power outage at their place of residence. Businesses may also participate in the new service.
A local utility provider is encouraging safety before individuals or businesses begin any spring and summer excavation projects.
NIPSCO says April marks National Safe Digging Month and is encouraging residents to call the national “call-before-you-dig” number 8-1-1 two days prior to starting work. The 48 hour suggestion allows work crews to properly mark utility lines to avoid problems.
A pilot program started in 2012 has been granted long term approval according to NIPSCO.
The company’s Green Power Rate program is offered to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Currently there are 940 homes and businesses enrolled in the Green Power Program.
