Upgraded Pulaski Co. Voting Equipment Planned for February Delivery

 
 

Elections in Pulaski County may look more high-tech following the delivery of several pieces of equipment.

Pulaski County used grant funds generated through the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) as a way to refurbish voting machines and purchase e-poll books. The devices, described as iPads with a special scanning attachment for identification, allow voters to move through lines more quickly during voting hours.

With election season upon us, political yard signs are becoming a more common occurrence.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is urging political candidates and their supporters to prevent road signs from blocking traffic visibility. According to INDOT, intersections, interchanges, and right-of-ways that run along a road should not be utilized for political yard signs.

Clerk’s Office Says Chances “Very Low” Unrecognized Resident Cast Ballot in North Judson Town Election

 
 

Officials with the Starke County Clerk’s office says they have methods in place to ensure residents cast election ballots in the proper place.

The comments follow the realization that the Town of North Judson did not properly file an annexation ordinance from 2001, and an ordinance outlining election Wards from 2012, with the Starke County Clerk’s office. Because the ordinances were not properly filed, the Starke County Clerk’s office is unable to recognize them until they’re recertified.

Starke Election Board Leaves Voting Hours Alone After Previous Approval

 
 

The Starke County Election Board advertised early and absentee voting hours, and then considered changing them the day before it’s supposed to start.

Following a vote at their last meeting to set the hours for voting prior to the primary election, Starke County Clerk Vicky Cooley brought a proposal to the board to reduce the number of hours early voting can take place.

Election Board Discusses Late Fees on Candidate Financial Forms

 
 

Candidates running for office in Starke County could be facing fines for not filing the appropriate financial disclosure forms.

During Tuesday’s Starke County Election Commission meeting, filing CFA-4 forms was discussed as important due to laws implemented at the state level. There are three financial documents that need to be filed for a candidate to be in compliance.

Starke County Election Board to Hold Post Election Meeting

The Starke County Election Board has scheduled a post election meeting for Friday, December 10th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the 2nd floor meeting room in the Starke County Courthouse.

The Board, consisting of President Pat Mitchell, Vice President Jim Henriott and Clerk Evelyn Skronski, will review the 2010 election, make plans for the 2011 City Election and approve election workers. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
