Scarecrow Festival Gets Underway in Wanatah
Fall is officially here, and that means it’s time for the annual Scarecrow Festival in Wanatah. Activities get under way today with the harvest contest from 3 until 6 p.m. Awards will be handed out for the tallest sunflower, heaviest pumpkin, largest ear of corn, largest zinnia, soybean stalk with the most pods, largest tomato, largest watermelon and most unusual gourd or squash. Kewanna, Wanatah Fall Festivals Continue Today
The Kankakee Valley area has two fall festivals continuing today. The annual Kewanna Fall Festival and the Wanatah Scarecrow Festival both have full schedules of events. Both will start the day off with breakfast and continue their activities throughout the day.
20th Annual Wanatah Scarecrow Festival Starts Today
Another area festival is planned in a local community, and it begins today. The 20th Annual Wanatah Scarecrow Festival starts with the harvest contest at 3 p.m. CDT. A pork chop dinner, entertainment tent and merchant drawings are all scheduled in the evening to finish off the first day.
