Winamac residents have the chance to weigh in this evening on the future of the town’s park and recreation facilities. The town’s in the process of putting together a five-year park and recreation plan, and officials are seeking input from the public. The park board is holding a public hearing at 6:00 this evening in the Winamac Municipal Utility Complex. Winamac Park Board to Discuss Finances, Member Compensation

The Winamac Park Board will continue its discussion of the 2017 park and recreation budget this evening. During a budget work session last week, Town Attorney Justin Schramm discussed the possibility of a special tax for park facilities, as well as a Rainy Day Fund. More information is expected when the park board meets tonight at 6:00. The Winamac Park Board is looking to improve some of the athletic equipment at the Town Park. Specifically, the town’s looking to replace the two sets of soccer goals with newer models. Winamac Park Board Gets to Work on Five-Year Plan

Work is now underway to develop a five-year plan for Winamac’s park and recreation facilities. Katie Bierrum, who’s putting the comprehensive plan together as part of her coursework at Purdue University, discussed the plan with the Winamac Park Board Thursday. As part of the process, she’s gathering information about the park facilities, and is also asking board members what direction they want to see the facilities take in the future. Continue reading
