Winamac Lumber Repays Revolving Loan

Winamac LumberA Winamac business has paid off a business loan to the Pulaski County Revolving Loan Fund a year ahead of schedule. The county loaned $100,000 to All Seasons Home Center manager Kyle Kruzick and local contractor Phil White in September of 2011 to operate a home improvement store in the All Seasons buildings. The loan allowed the newly-established Winamac Lumber Yard to buy fixtures and equipment from All Seasons.

On Jan. 1, 2013 White and his wife bought out Kruzick’s share of the company and later purchased the property from his family. Continue reading →

Walorski Visits Winamac Community High School

Walorski WinamacCongresswoman Jackie Walorski paid a visit to Winamac Community High School on Monday to check out the school’s new Warrior Academy. Students under the supervision of teacher Karen Butler spend part of the day doing credit recovery. It allows the 16 students in the program to take courses they struggled with in a traditional classroom in an independent study setting. Walorski applauds the efforts to help students graduate. Welcome Home Procession Scheduled for Body of Winamac Soldier

Members of the community are invited to pay their respects to a Winamac native who died while on active military duty. Staff Sgt. Andrew Budd was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was 27 at the time of his death on Sunday, Aug. 23 in El Paso. His body is being flown to Indianapolis this afternoon and will be returned to Winamac with an escort of police and patriot guard riders along with his family. The procession will travel north up U.S. 35 into Winamac this afternoon and turn east onto Main Street with a final destination of Frain Mortuary. Pulaski County Prosecutor Files Charges Against Former Deputy Coroner

Formal charges have been filed against a former Pulaski County official who is accused of stealing items from a dead man. Prosecuting attorney Daniel Murphy tells WKVI News he’s charged 41-year-old Tracy Rossman of Winamac with official misconduct as a level 6 felony and theft as a class A misdemeanor since the items she is accused of taking are valued at less than $750. Eastern Pulaski School Board Votes to Change Banks

According to Eastern Pulaski Community Schools’ Superintendent Dan Foster, the corporation has been having some concerns with their primary financial provider for several months now. Issues included inconsistency, unreliability and an abundance of unnecessary fees.

In order to solve the problem, a proposal was composed and sent out to several potential providers. The current institution did not even reply to the proposal. This led Superintendent Foster to address the school board Monday evening and suggest switching their primary financial institution to one of the two places that did respond. Continue reading →

Memorial Bench Approved for former Eastern Pulaski Superintendent

harrycordsThe Eastern Pulaski School Corporation campus will soon have a new bench commemorating the memory of former Superintendent Harry Cords. At the school board meeting Monday evening, one item on the agenda was to approve a $750 donation from the Cords family. Thanks to unanimous approval from the board, the donation was accepted and the board discussed where exactly to place the memorial bench. Continue reading →
