The Winamac Town Council has taken action to resolve a dispute with a contractor hired to remove ash trees from the Town Park. Last week, the council voted to withhold $1,650 of the town’s $20,000 payment to TD’s Tree Service. Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo had reported that the firm cut down some trees that the town planned to remove itself, while four other ash trees were left standing. Continue reading
Issues at the Winamac Town Park will be discussed during a special session of the town council tomorrow morning. Last week, the council voted to withhold a portion of the town’s payment to the contractor hired to remove ash trees from the park.
Another meeting will be held this evening to give Winamac residents an update on the town’s community pool project. Much like the first meeting held in November, it will be a chance for residents to offer their ideas for the new pool. Project organizers will also discuss some of the progress that’s been made over the past few months, as well as their plans for the pool’s construction and eventual operation. Continue reading

The Town of Winamac is exploring its options when it comes to the removal of ash trees from the Town Park. One option proposed to the town council this week by Park Manager Dave DeLorenzo was to drop the trees and then allow the public to cut them up and remove the wood in exchange for a fee. The Town of Winamac is finalizing the funding arrangements for its share of the town’s community pool project. The town has already agreed to contribute $150,000. On Monday, Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger discussed the source of that funding with the town council.

The Town of Winamac will soon be charging fees for the connection and disconnection of electricity and water services. Last week, the Winamac Town Council approved an ordinance charging its utility customers $25 to have their utilities disconnected and another $25 to have them reconnected. Continue reading
The Winamac Town Council has approved the purchase of two pickup trucks for the town’s Electric Department, costing a total of about $50,000.
Efforts to rebuild the Town of Winamac’s swimming pool continue to move ahead. The project is being organized by Winamac Town Council Member Judy Heater. She says the effort has raised over $115,000 so far, thanks to the generosity of local residents and businesses, including a $50,000 donation from the Braun Corporation. Continue reading
