Memorial Swinging Bridge Project Celebrates $3,000 Donation

Efforts to add decorative lighting to the Winamac Town Park’s “swinging bridge” are starting to get some financial support. The Memorial Swinging Bridge Project says Bonnell Grain Handling became its first large donor back in December, with a $3,000 check presentation. The goal is to install the lighting feature in time for the bridge’s centennial on July 4, 2023, when a large rededication ceremony is planned.

Winamac Park Manager to Resign

The Town of Winamac is looking for a new park manager. Dave DeLorenzo is resigning effective March 26, according to a letter read by Town Manager Brad Zellers during last week’s town council meeting. “‘I would like to extend my appreciation to the Town of Winamac for allowing me to work for you for the past six years,'” the letter said. “‘At this time, I would like to submit a three-week notice, due to recent unjust comments.’”

Family to Honor Son’s Memory by Donating Splash Pad to Town of Winamac

Winamac’s abandoned grain elevator will soon be replaced with a splash pad, thanks to a local family. Plans for the Owen Abbott Memorial Splash Pad were unveiled during Monday’s Winamac Town Council meeting.
