Pulaski County employees can expect more consistency and documentation on the county’s salary policies. That was the consensus reached during a joint session of the county council and commissioners Wednesday on the county’s salary matrix. The system is designed to give county employees a set schedule when it comes to pay raises.
Work Session Scheduled to Help Resolve Pulaski County’s Salary Matrix Issues
Pulaski County officials hope to put an end to the confusion surrounding the county’s salary matrix, during a joint work session next week. The idea was raised during Monday’s county council and commissioners meetings. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff and Sheriff Jeff Richwine again asked for guidance on a couple ongoing salary issues, but the council’s matrix committee still hadn’t met yet to discuss them. Council member Scott Hinkle suggested that the discussion take place with the full council and board of commissioners, instead.
O-D Superintendent Touts Recruitment Efforts, in Response to Declining Enrollment
As the Oregon-Davis School Board considers the school corporation’s financial future, one challenge school officials will have to address is declining enrollment. Since the 2008-2009 school year, enrollment has dropped from 713.5 students down to 555. Based on kindergarten enrollment trends, that number’s expected to drop down to 511 over the next five years.

The Culver Town Council will continue discussions for reshaping its EMS Department this evening.
At their previous work session, the Town Council considered adequate salaries for possibly hiring a full-time director for the department. Currently, the EMS Department is reliant on volunteers, but discussions have centered on reshaping the department to possibly pay staff wages commensurate with their experience.
