Knox Mayor Unveils Performance Stage Rendering, Seeks Input

Wythogan Park Performance Stage renderingKnox Mayor Dennis Estok is ready to focus on the next planned Wythogan Park improvement. He shared a rendering of the proposed band stage with the city council Tuesday evening. The 18×30 foot structure will sit in the grassy area between the park entrance and the splash pad. Estok wants to use local fieldstones for the retaining walls and columns to mirror the columns at the park’s entrance. Continue reading

WoodStarke Planning Continues

WoodStarke logoPlans are moving ahead for the third annual WoodStarke festival. Visitors to this September’s event in Wythogan Park in Knox can expect to see several musical acts and various types of artwork, including woodcarving, photography, and painting. Organizer Jacob Lippner says there are even plans to work with library representatives to incorporate the written word into WoodStarke 3. Knox Eases Into Golf Cart Ordinance Enforcement

 
 

Knox residents whose golf carts are equipped with headlights and taillights will be allowed to drive them to Wythogan Park for Saturday’s events leading up to the fireworks show. However, they will still be charged the $10 per vehicle gate fee to get in and will not be allowed to drive their carts around the park while the activities are going on. Continue reading

Ribbon Cutting Scheduled for Knox Splash Pad

Knox Council Approves Band Stage Funding

Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last night the city has received a $10,000 anonymous donation for the project. The Knox Redevelopment Commission has also set aside $40,000 for it. Fireworks Test Planned at Wythogan Park

 The new venue for the annual Knox fireworks display will be put to the test next week. Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council Tuesday evening Mad Bomber will be at Wythogan Park on Wednesday, May 4th at dusk to set off a few practice shells and test visibility. Fireworks Fundraiser Planned, Parade Forms Available at Mayor’s Office

 Plans are shaping up for the Independence Day celebration in downtown Knox. A parade down Main Street into Wythogan Park on Saturday, July 2nd will kick off the day of events leading up to the county fireworks display. Mayor Dennis Estok and the Knox City Council have opted to move them from the airport to the park this year.

Parade applications are available at city hall for anyone who would like to have a float or vehicle and can be picked up during business hours. Continue reading

Knox RDC Shares Tractor Supply Timeline

Tractor Supply CompanyTractor Supply Company should be open for business in Knox within the next few months. City Councilman Jeff Berg shared that news with fellow Knox Redevelopment Commission members last evening. He says work on the former Alco space in the Knox Mall is slated to begin April 18th and wrap up by June 18th. Continue reading
