Several preliminary steps for the new Starke County Veteran’s Memorial were approved by the county park board Tuesday. The memorial will be placed on the southeast corner of the courthouse square. It will include the names of those killed in action in wars and conflicts dating back to the Civil War, etched in a black granite stone.

Today the La Porte County Family YMCA is hosting it’s 35th annual Triathlon starting at Soldier’s Memorial Park. It is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The course includes roads located inside Soldiers Memorial Park, those bordering the park, and Small Road from Garden Street to County Road 700 West. The Pulaski County YMCA is hosting its first ever large Tippecanoe River float event. The float will launch from Haschel Bridge at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.
“This is a free event to anyone who would like to participate. Our goal is just to have a fun day where families can come out and do something together as a group,” said Cara Dulin of the YMCA.
