New Streetlights Getting Positive Feedback in Hamlet

Hamlet’s new decorative streetlights are getting some positive feedback. Town Council President Dave Kesvormas says he’s gotten a lot of complements about the new lights on Starke Street. “It almost looks like a runway when you come in late at night when it’s foggy,” Kesvormas said during Wednesday’s council meeting. “It looks pretty cool.”

Knox Board of Works to Get Updates on 342-344 W. Spruce, 204 W. Bender Today

The Knox Board of Works will get updates on some ongoing code enforcement efforts this morning. Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost told the board last month that a lot of progress had been made at 342-344 West Spruce Drive, after he imposed a $2,500 fine. The board will get an update on that property today, along with 204 West Bender Street.

Hamlet May Continue Expanding Sidewalk Network with Next Community Crossings Project

The Hamlet Town Council is looking for its next road project to tackle.

Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts reminded members last week that the next call for projects for the state’s Community Crossings matching grant program is in January. Council President Dave Kesvormas voiced his support for upgrading Division Street from the Town Park north to Davis or Railroad.

The Deadline to Sign Up for the Knox 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Program is Coming Up Soon

With the weather improving many people may be looking to spruce up the area around their house or business. Luckily for citizens of Knox, there is still about one week to get involved in the city’s 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement program.

Mayor Dennis Estok issued a reminder about the upcoming deadline at Tuesday night’s city council meeting.

Estok explained, “The 50/50 program for residents and commercial, the due date for that is coming up pretty fast so if anybody is going to enter it, they have to come up and get the application and have it in by May 4th to be a part of that program.” Continue reading

Knox Officials Announce 50/50 Sidewalk Guidelines

 
The City of Knox will split the cost of sidewalk repairs with business and residential property owners who take part in the annual 50/50 sidewalk replacement program.

The City of Knox is once again offering business and homeowners a chance to take part in the 50/50 sidewalk replacement program. The mayor’s office will accept requests on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are exhausted. Continue reading

The city of Knox is gearing up for their 50/50 sidewalk replacement program, offering residents a chance to have their sidewalks repaired at half the cost. Any residents suffering from some problematic areas on their sidewalks would benefit from this program, and Mayor Rick Chambers is accepting replacement requests now from homeowners and business owners. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 16.
