The Starke County Food Pantry received a $3,500 check from the Starke County General Unrestricted Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation for the purpose of purchasing meat and food for the food pantry.

Cecilia Torres, Services Coordinator, says that several more donations have come into the food pantry, but more is always welcome. You may drop off your donation at the Community Services of Starke County Food Pantry Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you do your banking at the Demotte State Bank, you may participate in the food drive there until Friday, July 22nd. Any canned items, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, soups, or any other non-perishable items may be donated during this food drive.

Members of the Starke County Youth Club bagged groceries at Five Star on Tuesday and gathered $140 in tips. Those tips were then used to purchase 104 pounds of food at Five Star. The students delivered the food to the Food Pantry and stocked the shelves.

The Food Pantry aides approximately 225 families a month.
