Unemployment Down A Few Ticks To 8 Percent

Over 7,700 new jobs were added in Indiana in October. The job gains last month resulted in a drop in Indiana’s unemployment rate. Unemployment decreased to 8.0 percent from 8.2 percent in September which is the largest one month decrease since April.

Starke County’s unemployment rate for October was 8.9 percent, Pulaski County came in at 6.1 percent which was unchanged from September, Marshall County is at 7.7 percent and LaPorte reports 8.9 percent.

Sullivan County has the highest unemployment rate at 10.3 percent. DuBois County has the lowest at 4.8 percent. Eighteen counties around the state had increases in unemployment.
