The Community Choir will present the 15th Annual Christmas Cantata this Sunday, Dec. 9 with two performances at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Knox United Methodist Church.
Choir member Ken Whiles tells us what kind of music we can expect to enjoy.
“Most of them are new songs, but there are two or three of them that do include some familiar songs,” said Ken Whiles. “They’re primarily new songs that fit into the theme of Christmas.”
About a dozen churches are represented in this Cantata and member Carolyn Whiles says everyone involved makes up quite a talented group.
“There’s approximately 50, including our sound people and our directors,” said Carolyn Whiles.
The production is under the direction of Brian Liechty and Nan Folkers.
“And they’re also consulting with Jim Oliverius who has been our director for several years but is health-wise unable to direct this year,” she said.
Carolyn said this is her 8th or 9th year she has participated in the Cantata and she explained why she gets involved every year.
“I enjoy learning new music and I enjoy the camaraderie, fellowship and meeting new people from all faiths with one goal,” she said.
The production will highlight the reason for the season in song and message.
