Norem gave an update on the utilization of the drop box to the Knox Board of Public Works last week. Norem explained that residents have left a few deposits in the newly installed drop box. He hopes that more people become aware of the drop box and help rid the area of potential prescription medication thefts.
Norem said he has emptied the box once since its installation. He is required to log all medications into an intake ledger and then properly destroy the medication. While it is an anonymous service, all deposits must be logged.
The police chief noted that the drop box is secure and is monitored at all times by a security camera. Deposits can be made any time of the day.
