The Knox Board of Public Works opened street paving bids Wednesday morning for five streets and a small section of pavement at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
E&B Paving out of Rochester was the low bidder with a total bid of $76,680. In their bid, they noted that they would be using 1,149.44 tons of asphalt at $66.71 per ton. The Board of Works accepted E&B Paving as the lowest conforming bidder and the paperwork and specifications will be reviewed by Street Superintendent Jeff Borg and City Attorney David Matsey.
The other bids received included Walsh and Kelly with a bid of $100,130; Reith Riley submitted a bid of $79,837 and Town and Country Construction with a bid of $83,088.
The streets that will be paved include South Prettyman Street from John Street to Potter Street, Delaware Street from Prettyman Street to East Street, Olson Drive from Washington Street to the old asphalt overlay, Adams Street from Roosevelt Road to Bower Street and North Roosevelt Road from Lewis Street to Division Road. The bid also includes a 13-foot by 75-foot paving project at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
