A Winamac man was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections in a hearing held in Starke Circuit Court Wednesday morning.
Shane Morrow, 37, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state on a charge of Escape, a Class D felony and a probation violation.
Morrow admitted that he escaped home detention in January and failed to return. The staff at Starke County Community Corrections did not know his whereabouts for 48 hours.
Morrow was sentenced to two years in the Department of Corrections with no part of the sentence suspended on the charge of Escape charge. Judge Kim Hall also handed down a two-year sentence with no part of the sentence suspended for the probation violation. If he successfully completes a substance abuse program in prison, he may petition the court to modify his sentence.
His Starke County sentence will run consecutively to sentences he will receive in cases in LaPorte County and in Marshall County.
