A Knox man was sentenced in Starke Circuit Court on Thursday and was released from the Starke County Jail.
Christopher McCurdy, 46 of Knox, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to a charge of Strangulation as a Class D felony and Battery as a Class A misdemeanor.
Starke Circuit Court Magistrate Jeanene Calabrese sentenced McCurdy to 18 months in the Department of Corrections with 12 months suspended. He was sentenced to 12 months in the Starke County Jail with six months suspended on the charge of Battery. Those sentences will run concurrently.
McCurdy has been incarcerated since his arrest on Aug. 16 so he satisfied his required sentence. He was released from the Starke County Jail yesterday afternoon. He is still required to complete 12 months of probation.
