The Community Grants program was created by CVS Caremark as part of its commitment to help people achieve their best health by providing financial assistance to program that are focused on wellness and prevention
This money will help fund the Motivation and Me program within the SCYC. Motivation and Me is a program that gives children opportunities for exercise and interactive activities. They also learn how to choose and make healthy food choices which increases their understanding of nutrition.
The SCYC was selected to receive a grant through the CVS Caremark Community Grant application process for 2013. Grants were awarded to programs offered in a community or public school setting that helps build healthy habits such as chronic disease management, nutrition and exercise and health screenings. Inclusive programs targeted at supporting wellness initiatives for children with disabilities such as physical activity and play were also eligible for grant money.
