The bridge projects in Starke and LaPorte Counties that Indiana Department of Transportation crews have been feverishly working on for the past six months are close to being done.
INDOT Spokesman Matt Deitchley says one bridge opening has been delayed while the other will be opening at the end of the month.
“The U.S. 35 bridge project, near Knox, has been pushed back just little bit – about mid-December is when we’re expecting to open to traffic. It’ll open two weeks or so passed what we’re expecting of that. Weather has delayed us a little bit on that. The U.S. 6 bridge near Kingsford Heights is actually going to be on track to be open by the end of this month, what we’ve been planning all along,” explained Dietchley.
Meanwhile, the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the Monterey Bridge is set for Friday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. ET.
