Starke Commissioners to Hold Employee’s Position Open

The Starke County Commissioners on Monday morning approved a request from Prosecutor Nicholas Bourff to hold an employee’s position open for her while she recovers from surgery. Bourff told the commissioners that Sherry Derrickson is going in for surgery on Dec. 20 and will be out of work for about two and a half weeks.

Fortunately, Bourff said Judy Jones has offered to fill the position and requires no training in order to do so. He explained Jones knows the position will be temporary and she is a former employee of the office.

Commissioner Kathy Norem said she sees no problem with holding the position open for Derrickson as long as Jones understands her position is temporary. The commissioners passed a motion approving Bourff’s request.
