The Pulaski County Highway Department has had a very rough week due to the inclement weather and state of emergency over the area this week, and Highway Superintendent Mark Fox told the commissioners during their regular meeting that the department is down eight of their 21 trucks. Fox said that one plow truck has been totaled with the other seven in need of repairs.

Additionally, Fox presented an application from Kankakee Valley REMC requesting their authorization to replace power lines on a county road. Fox said he reviewed the information and determined the poles are placed correctly, and the commissioners approved the application.

Finally, Fox asked the commissioners to increase the total comp time hours allowed. He said the weather event and the necessary plowing involved with that has caused his overtime budget to take a massive hit, and many employees have offered to take comp time rather than overtime. According to the county handbook, employees are limited to a maximum of 80 comp hours, but the commissioners agreed to look into the possibility of increasing the allowed comp time.
