Several offenders were sentenced in Starke Circuit Court on Thursday.
Carrie Hensley pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of Dealing in Narcotic Drugs (Heroin). Judge Kim Hall sentenced her to ten years in the Department of Corrections with three years suspended to be served on probation. She will participate in a therapeutic community while incarcerated. If she successfully completes a rehabilitative program and serves half of her sentence, she may petition the court for a modification of her sentence.
Michael Mann will serve 12 years in the Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State. Judge Hall sentenced Mann to eight years on a charge of Dealing with Methamphetamine as a Class B felony and two years was the sentence on a charge Maintaining a Common Nuisance as a Class D felony. Those two sentences will run concurrently, or at the same time. A four-year sentence was given on a charge of Habitual Substance Offender which will run consecutively to the other sentences. No parts of the sentences were suspended. If he successfully completes a rehabilitative program while incarcerated and serves half of his sentence, he may petition the court for a modification of his sentence.
Dennis Dates was also sentenced in Starke Circuit Court after he pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to charges in three cases. Dates pleaded guilty to Class D felony charges of Theft, Domestic Battery and Escape. He received 18 months in the Department of Corrections on each charge and he will serve a total of 54 months in prison with no part of the sentences suspended. If he successfully completes the CLIFF program and serves half of his sentence, he may petition the court for a modification of his sentence.
In other cases in Starke Circuit Court, Chance Skaggs pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of Theft as a Class D felony. He was sentenced to 18 months in the DOC with nine months suspended. Since he served 135 days in jail, he satisfied the terms of his sentence and was released.
Billy Coldiron pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, as a Class D felony. He was sentenced to serve 24 months in the DOC with all of the sentence suspended to be served on home detention.
After pleading guilty to a charge of Possession of a Syringe and admitted to a probation violation, Mickey Richie was ordered to serve 30 months in the Department of Corrections with no part of the sentence suspended.
Jessica Tarr was sentenced on a charge of Residential Entry as a Class D felony. She pleaded guilty to that charge in a plea agreement with the State and Judge Kim Hall sentenced her to 13 months in the Department of Corrections with all of the sentence suspended to be served on probation. She will also enter a rehabilitation program.
James Borton pleaded guilty to a charge of Possession of a Legend Drug and will spend two years in the Department of Corrections. This sentence will be served consecutively to another sentence. If he successfully completes the CLIFF or GRIP program, he may petition the court for a modification of his sentence.
Brandon Davidson pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of Possession by a Meth Offender, a Class D felony. Judge Kim Hall sentenced Davidson to 20 months in the DOC with no part of the sentence suspended.
