Fundraising for the Annual Starke County Fireworks Show is Off to a Good Start

Fundraising efforts for the annual Starke County Independence Day celebration are underway. The event will have all the usuals; food, fun and of course, fire-works. As pretty as they are to watch, they’re not so pretty to pay for. Three fundraisers have been established by the city of Knox to help cover costs.

The first fundraiser during May’s town-wide garage raised around $1600 through port-a-pit chicken sales.

The next fundraiser takes place June 13 at the Down Town Depot at 18 S Main St in Knox. Tickets for the 2 hour dinner can be picked up for $10 at the mayor’s office or from the restaurant.

The third fundraiser is an ongoing raffle. Tickets can be purchased for $25 a piece from the mayor’s office or at the show. One ticket grants you six chances to win $500.

The winner will be announced during the fireworks show which is set to take place Friday, July 3 at the Starke County Airport located on State Road 8 and 200 E. Gates open at 4:00 (CST) and a $5 fee per vehicle will be charged at the gate.
