Monterey Days Festival Gets Underway Tonight

Monterey Days FestivalHead to Monterey for a weekend of fun during the 18th annual Monterey Days Festival. This year’s theme is “Your Window to the World.” Festivities get underway at 6 p.m. EDT with the Mister and Miss Monterey Days Pageant. Food and craft booths will also be open. Knox Harvest Festival Pageant Entry Deadline Approaching

pageantThere’s still time for Starke County youngsters to enter the Harvest Festival Pageant. The competition will take place Saturday, Sept. 12th at 3 p.m. at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox. The Little Miss and Mister Pageant is open to boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 5, and girls between the ages of 16 and 18 are eligible for the Miss Harvest Festival competition. Knox Plan Commission Recommends Industrial Park Zoning Change

Traffic Control Ssytems IncThe Knox City Planning Commission recommends the rezoning of 16 acres of land in the Knox Industrial Park from residential to light manufacturing to accommodate a proposed business expansion. Planning Commission President Jeff Berg says the existing Traffic Control Specialists, Inc. facility on 300 South/Klockner Drive is bursting at the seams. Moving Starke County Forward Announces New Challenge

They cite statistics from 2011 that indicate 37 percent of adults ages 20 and over in Starke County reported no leisure-time physical activity. IU Health Announces Leadership Changes

IU HealthIndiana University Health President and CEO Daniel F. Evans, Jr. is retiring. He is relinquishing his role as president but will continue to serve as CEO of the statewide health system until May 1, 2016. IU Health Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Dennis M. Murphy will be promoted to president of the organization, effective immediately. He will take over as CEO in May when Evans retires and will continue to serve as COO until a successor is named.
