The West Central School Corporation can seek permission from the state to schedule e-learning days to make up for any missed instructional time this year after action Thursday by the school board. They authorized Superintendent Don Street to submit the waiver application to the Indiana Department of Education.
Last year West Central successfully used e-learning days for the first time. Students were given their assignments and a due date. Those with Internet access outside of school were able to complete them at their own pace and turn them in. The school was open on Saturdays for students who needed to come to do the work.
Street says the e-learning days will only be used if the corporation runs out of built-in snow days and exhausts all other options. The school calendar includes three snow days and three additional days prior to graduation that can be used for instruction.
