Knox Mayor Dennis Estok hopes to revive a longstanding holiday tradition. He’s bringing back the Peppermint Parade and says he will soon make a formal call-out for volunteers.

He told attendees at Monday’s town hall meeting a lot of planning goes into an event like that. For starters, they need to figure out where Santa Claus will go after coming into town. Historically he’s been at the community center, but that will be open to suggestions

The parade is tentatively scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving with a broad vision of a winter version of the recent Fun Day in the Park event suggested. Estok says a lot of work went into putting that together.

“It’s your community. One person can’t do it, the council can’t do it, I can’t do it alone. It takes volunteers,” Estok said.

Anyone who would like to help with the planning can contact his office at 574-772-4553.
