Pulaski County Crash Claims Hamlet Man’s Life

 
 

A single-vehicle crash in Pulaski County claimed the life of a Hamlet man and injured another. It happened Sunday afternoon at 3:22 p.m. on State Road 39 at County Road 100 South. Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department officials say a car driven by 22-year-old Corey W. Clemmons of Hamlet was northbound on 39, ran off the roadway, struck a bridge embankment and went into an irrigation ditch, where it overturned and was partially submerged.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage, according to the accident report. Clemmons was taken by ambulance to Pulaski Memorial Hospital and airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. His condition is not known.

A passenger, 23-year-old Joseph Becker of Hamlet, was pronounced dead at the crash site by officials from the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office. The crash is still under investigation.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office, Pulaski County EMS, Winamac and Medaryville Fire Departments, Pulaski County REACT and the Indiana State Police.
