Students at the Culver Community Schools Corporation are learning how to keep themselves safe online. Elementary School Principal Erin Proskey told the school board Monday that a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is giving presentations to students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.“They’re going to talk about bullying, cyber bullying, online solicitation, and a whole bunch of different things,” Proskey said. “And she said she’s going to have age-appropriate presentations for all of those groups.”
Additionally, a presentation will be offered for parents at 6:00 this evening in the Culver Community High School Auditorium. Proskey says similar presentations are being offered around the state, thanks to grant funding received by the Indiana State Police. October is recognized as Cybersecurity Awareness Month in Indiana and around the United States. As part of that effort, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is urging Hoosiers to follow a few Internet safety tips. They suggest using strong passwords, not clicking on links from unknown sources, and not oversharing on social media.
