Hamlet Council Agrees to Outfitting of Replacement Fire Truck

Hamlet Fire StationThe Hamlet Town Council has approved a quote to outfit a recently-purchased fire truck. The 2008 truck will replace the town’s 1990 truck, which is reaching the end of its useful life, according to Fire Chief Bob Goetz.

Fire Service, Inc. of St. John will do the outfitting work for a cost of just over $15,000. The company has also offered to purchase the old truck as a trade-in, for $5,000.

Goetz also reported the fire department’s officers will stay the same for another year, with him remaining chief. He added that the department responded to about 100 calls in 2016, a significant decline from previous years.

In other council business Wednesday, a proclamation was read, recognizing this past Sunday as Indiana’s Bicentennial.
