Knox Houses Slated for Demolition With Blight Elimination Funds

The City of Knox will be able to tear down two more blighted houses. Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council Tuesday night they’ve received an additional $36,000 from the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority.

That money will be used to tear down abandoned houses at 322 Spruce and 420 Maple in Parkview Heights. The city already owns the property on Spruce and will acquire the one on Maple with part of the money.

Estok says those were the only two houses that were ready to tear down when the application was due. He says the city will be eligible to apply for additional money should the grant be extended again.

Previous grants were used to tear down several uninhabitable houses within the Knox city limits.
