Forensic Autopsy Conducted on Pursuit Suspect

A forensic autopsy on the Lafayette man killed in Pulaski County Tuesday morning confirms he died of multiple gunshot wounds. The Pulaski County Coroner’s Office is assisting the Indiana State Police and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department in the death investigation of 36-year-old Peter J. Doffin, Jr.

He was killed shortly after 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday on U.S. 421 south of State Road 114 in Pulaski County following a high-speed police chase through multiple counties. According to the Indiana State Police, officers shot Doffin after he got out of his vehicle with a gun and made threatening gestures toward them.

The names of the officers involved in the shooting have not been released.
