Knox Officials Confirm Date for Fireworks Celebration

The City of Knox will celebrate Independence Day a little early this year. The annual fireworks display will take place Saturday, July 1st at dusk in Wythogan Park.

Last year was the first fireworks show in the park. City officials were pleased with both the turnout and the feedback from residents who attended. Shuttles helped move people easily through the park, and there were not any issues with visibility.

This year’s celebration will begin with a 1 p.m. parade on Saturday, July 1st down Main Street and into the park.

A full day of music, food and activities for the entire family will follow. Details are still being finalized and will be announced closer to the event.

The fireworks committee is hosting a port-a-pit chicken fundraiser on Saturday, May 13th at the south side fire station from 10 a.m. until they sell out of chicken and pit-tatoes. Tickets are available at the mayor’s office.
